S hauna Mayben is a Tasmanian artist working with jewellery as a medium. Shauna completed her Masters with Distinction in Fine Art and Design at the University of South Australia 2006 and completed a two year intensive Associateship at the Jam Factory Contemporary Craft and Design.

Shauna creates contemporary jewellery using both precious and non precious materials.

Her work investigates the relationship of jewellery and its function not only to adorn but its intrinsic value both emotional and monetary.

Her current work explores the beauty of currency, the exquisite detail, colors and the subject matter as well as the social complexities of currency, working directly with international paper currency and coins.

In 2010 Shauna Mayben won the Bricolage Design Prize for environmentally sustainable products. Shauna prides herself in using 100% recycled silver, and upcycling Industrial off cuts, diverting materials from landfill and making wearable pieces that don’t cost the earth.

Shauna truly believes in an ethical and environmentally responsible practice. Implementing all aspects of this philosophy from production to finish is vital to the ethical integrity of her work and to the sustainability of the trade.
